Advanced Lipid Testing Services

At Texas we offer cardiovascular risk assessment with advanced lipid testing. We believe that cardiovascular risk reduction and prevention is one of our most important jobs. The most common cause of death in our patients with and without diabetes is heart attack and stroke follows not far behind. We work with a simple blood test we are able to tell patients their exact lipoprotein particle counts, as well as look for genetic and other abnormalities that increase risk of cardiovascular disease.

This allows for much more accurate and tailored treatment which is designed to prevent cardiovascular disease. This test also measures the high risk protein, lipoprotein (a), and tests for inflammation and cholesterol absorption and synthesis. When patient have high cholesterol, patient may develop fatty deposits in patient blood vessels. Eventually, these deposits make it difficult for enough blood to flow through patient arteries. Patient heart may not get as much oxygen-rich blood as it needs, which increases the risk of a heart attack. Decreased blood flow to patient brain can cause a stroke.

High cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) can be inherited, but it’s often the result of unhealthy lifestyle choices, and thus preventable and treatable. A healthy diet, regular exercise and sometimes medication can go a long way toward reducing high cholesterol.

Our advanced lipid testing goes away from standard lipid tests. The advanced lipid test identifies other factors may inherited, that increase patient risk for cardiovascular disease, stroked and /or diabetes. The results of these lipid tests help doctors develop a treatment plan to include the most excellent nutritional and exercise recommendations. With the personalized plan, the success of our treatment will be monitored over time. Patient will be able to see patient continued progress in disease risk reduction. Even inherited traits, once identified, can be treated happily.
